I have a wish.

我有一個(gè)愿望。

I have a hope.

我有希望。

Im going to teach you the difference between two words in English that are confusing, probably be. . . because in your language, the words are very similar; if not, used the same.

我要告訴你讓人感到困惑的兩個(gè)英文單詞之間的區別,因為在你們的語(yǔ)言中,單詞非常相似; 如果沒(méi)有,使用相同的。

Portuguese, for example.

例如葡萄牙語(yǔ)。

These words are: " wish" versus " hope" .

這兩個(gè)單詞 " wish" 和 " hope"。

Dunh-dunh-dunh-dunh.

當當當當。

The challenge is to figure out how theyre different.

我們面對的挑戰在于弄清楚它們是如何不同的。

So, " wish" and " hope" are both verbs, and theyre actually both regular verbs, so: " I wished" and " I hoped" .

所以,wish和hope都是動(dòng)詞,它們實(shí)際上都是常規動(dòng)詞,所以:I wished和I hoped。

And they both mean that you want or you desire something.

它們都意味著(zhù)你想要或者你想要的東西。

So, you think: " Wow, okay."

所以,你想:哇,好的。

Well, in my language, oh, we use them the same.

然而,在我的語(yǔ)言中,這兩個(gè)單詞的用法一樣。

Oh, maybe theyre a little bit different.

哦可能他們有一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)不同。

I dont know.

我不知道。

How are they different?

他們到底有什么區別?

Let me tell you.

讓我來(lái)告訴你們吧。

In English, if you can remember this: " wish" is for stars.

在英語(yǔ)中,如果你能記住這一點(diǎn):愿望是指星星。

So we have a common expression that: " When you wish upon a star" .

所以我們有一個(gè)共同的表達:當你向星星許愿。

A star, I dont mean a Hollywood actor or actress; I mean the beautiful twinkly things in the sky are called stars.

"a star",我不是指好萊塢演員或女演員; 我的意思是天空中美麗的閃爍事物被稱(chēng)為星星。

So, we usually wish upon a star.

所以,我們通常希望有一個(gè)星星。

We think: " Wow.

我們會(huì )想:哇。

I wish I had a million, trillion thousand dollars."

我想要一億,一萬(wàn)億美元。

Yeah.

耶。

And the star goes: " I dont care.

這個(gè)星星說(shuō):我不在乎。

Im a star.

我只是一顆星星。

I cant get you anything."

我不能給你任何東西。

But the reason why this is a wish is because its unreal.

但這是一個(gè)愿望是因為它是不真實(shí)的。

You want 10 billion dollars.

你想要100億美元。

Well, guess what?

所以,猜猜?

Its near impossible that youre going to get that, unless you work hard or rob a bank.

除非你努力工作或搶劫銀行,否則幾乎不可能實(shí)現這一目標。

If youd like to rob a bank, please give me some money; just as a little, like, donation- that would be fine.

如果你想搶銀行,請給我一些錢(qián);就像捐贈一樣,那真是太好了。

" Hope" is for dreamers.

hope 是指夢(mèng)想家。

So, do you have a dream?

所以,你有一個(gè)夢(mèng)想嗎?

Maybe you would like to learn English.

也許你的夢(mèng)想是學(xué)習英語(yǔ)。

Youre on the right track.

這就對了。

Maybe your dream is to travel; thats my dream.

也許你的夢(mèng)想是旅行; 那也是我的夢(mèng)想。

Maybe your dream is to achieve your goal.

也許你的夢(mèng)想是實(shí)現你的目標。

So, if you can remember this: A " wish" is for a star, which means its unreal; its not going to happen.

所以,如果你能記住這一點(diǎn):一個(gè)wish是指向星星許愿,這意味著(zhù)它是不真實(shí)的; 它不會(huì )發(fā)生。

And " hope" is for dreamers - this is real; with some effort, you can achieve your goal.

而hope是指夢(mèng)想家 - 這是真實(shí)的; 通過(guò)一些努力,您可以實(shí)現您的目標。

So, " wish" is for stars; " hope" is for dreamers.

所以,wish是遙不可及的; 對于夢(mèng)想家來(lái)說(shuō),hope。

And we have another very important function of " wish" .

關(guān)于" wish" 我們有另一個(gè)非常重要的作用。

Its grammar, but thats okay; youre good.

這是語(yǔ)法,但沒(méi)關(guān)系;你很厲害。

We can use " wish" for unreal things that you want, but depending on the verb, itll tell us what time period you are talking about.

我們可以將wish用于你想要的虛幻事物,但根據動(dòng)詞,它會(huì )告訴我們你在什么時(shí)間段談?wù)摗?/p>

So, if you wish you had something or you want something right now. . .

所以,如果你希望你有什么東西或者你現在想要什么......

Maybe you are. . .

或許你想要......

Were. . .

你曾經(jīng)想要......

Maybe youre playing basketball and youre watching this lesson.

也許你在打籃球而且你在看這節課。

Lets say youre playing basketball, and youre like: " Wow.

假設你在打籃球,你就像是:哇。

I wish I were taller."

我希望自己更高。

Unfortunately, you cannot be taller just like this.

不幸的是,你不能像這樣高。

I think there are pretty invasive surgeries you could have to elongate your legs, but its just not going to happen; Im sorry.

不幸的是,你認為你可能需要進(jìn)行非常有創(chuàng )的手術(shù)來(lái)拉長(cháng)你的雙腿,但它不會(huì )發(fā)生; 非常遺憾。

Or maybe you go: " Wow!

又或者,你可能會(huì )說(shuō):哇!

I wish I could speak English fluently."

我希望我可以說(shuō)一口流利的英語(yǔ)。

Yeah, me too.

是的,我也想這樣。

But the only way you could do that is you practice, so thats not unachievable, but its near impossible; even for me.

但你能做到的唯一方法就是練習,這是不是不可能實(shí)現的,但這幾乎是不可能的; 甚至對我來(lái)說(shuō)。

" I wish I had" . . .

我希望我能......

So this is famous, like: " I wish I had 10 million dollars."

這句話(huà)就相當于,我希望我有一億一樣,這幾乎不可能發(fā)生。

Yeah, you dont; sorry.

抱歉,你實(shí)現不了。

" I wish I knew" .

我希望我認識。

I wish I knew famous people, then I could go to their house, we could hang out, have some food, go in their swimming pool.

我希望我認識名人,然后我可以去他們家,我們可以閑逛,吃點(diǎn)東西,去他們的游泳池。

Itd be fun.

那將很有趣。

But guess what?

但是,你覺(jué)得呢?

Im sorry, you dont.

抱歉,你實(shí)現不了。

So these things are something that you want now.

所以這些東西你現在想要的東西。

Were going to use simple past as a verb, so the structure: Subject " wish" , subject, simple past verb and a noun or an adjective, like " taller" .

我們將使用簡(jiǎn)單的過(guò)去式作為動(dòng)詞,因此結構:主語(yǔ)wish,主語(yǔ),簡(jiǎn)單的過(guò)去動(dòng)詞和名詞或形容詞,如taller。

Okay?

懂了嗎?

Its something that you want to have now, but you probably wont get it.

這是你現在想要的東西,但你可能不會(huì )得到它。

Ha-ha.

哈哈。

Dreams are shattered.

夢(mèng)想破滅了。

If its something that you thought about in the past, in English we would call it a mistake or a regret.

如果這是你過(guò)去想到的東西,用英語(yǔ)我們會(huì )稱(chēng)之為錯誤或遺憾。

So: " mistake" or " regret" means something that you did or didnt do in the past, and now you think: " Uh-oh.

所以:mistake 或regret意味著(zhù)你過(guò)去做過(guò)或不做過(guò)的事情,現在你想:哦——哦。

I. . ." or " she" ; you can use different subjects.

我......或她;你可以使用不同的主語(yǔ)。

" She wishes. . .

她希望......

She wishes she hadnt eaten all of the chocolate" , because now her tummy hurts.

她希望她沒(méi)有吃掉所有的巧克力,因為現在她的肚子疼了。

So she wishes that in the past she hadnt have done something.

所以她希望過(guò)去她沒(méi)有做過(guò)什么。

Okay?

知道了嗎?

With this grammar, youre going to use the past perfect.

有了這個(gè)語(yǔ)法,你就會(huì )使用過(guò)去完成時(shí)。

Past perfect is either: " had" or " hadnt" plus pp.

過(guò)去完成時(shí)是:had或hadnt加上動(dòng)詞過(guò)去式。

" Pp" in English grammar means the past participle.

英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)法中的Pp表示過(guò)去分詞。

And the past participle is difficult to learn, but you can do it.

過(guò)去分詞很難學(xué),但你可以做到。

So, I can say: " Oh.

所以,我可以說(shuō):哦。

He wishes he had bought a different car."

他希望他買(mǎi)的是另一輛車(chē)。

But he didnt.

但是他沒(méi)有買(mǎi)。

He bought this car, but hes like: " Oh, damn!

他買(mǎi)了這輛車(chē),但他就像是:哦,該死的!

I should have bought the other car.

我應該買(mǎi)另一輛車(chē)。

Sorry, youve made a mistake or youve made a regret.

對不起,你犯了一個(gè)錯誤,或者你后悔了。

So, when we use the past perfect with " wish" , which is " had" or " hadnt" plus the past participle, its a mistake in the past.

因此,當我們使用過(guò)去時(shí)的wish,即had或hadnt加上過(guò)去的分詞時(shí),過(guò)去就是一個(gè)錯誤。

So, in English we have present, past, and then future.

所以,在英語(yǔ)中我們有現在,過(guò)去和未來(lái)。

When we use future, were going to use the modal verb " would" .

當我們使用將來(lái)時(shí),我們將使用情態(tài)動(dòng)詞would。

So, I can say: " They wish" -so many people wish-" they would" , a base verb and the noun; something in the future.

所以,我可以說(shuō):他們希望——許多人都希望——they would,一個(gè)基本動(dòng)詞和名詞;未來(lái)的事情。

Something in the future that they want.

未來(lái)他們想做的事情。

So: " They wish they would go to Spain."

所以,他們希望去西班牙。

Ah, but they cant.

呃,但是,他們實(shí)現不了。

Okay?

明白了嗎?

" They wish they would have more food tomorrow" , but they cant.

他們希望明天會(huì )有更多的食物,但是他們沒(méi)有。

So, depending on what kind of verb we use will depend on how we talk about our wishes.

所以,取決于我們使用什么類(lèi)型的動(dòng)詞將取決于我們如何談?wù)撐覀兊脑竿?/p>

If we use the simple past, were talking about something we want now; if we use past perfect, were talking about something that happened in the past that is a mistake; and if we talk about the future, were going to use " would" .

如果我們使用簡(jiǎn)單的過(guò)去時(shí),我們現在談?wù)摰氖俏覀兿胍臇|西; 如果我們使用過(guò)去完成時(shí),我們談?wù)摰氖沁^(guò)去發(fā)生的事情,這是一個(gè)錯誤; 如果我們談?wù)撐磥?lái),我們將使用would。

Whats your wish?

你的愿望是什么?

Whats your dream?

你的夢(mèng)想是什么?

Tell me your wish and tell me your hope.

告訴我你的愿望并告訴我你的希望。

Whats something that you hope you can actually do?

你希望你能做到什么?

Dreams are not unobtainable; you follow your goal and you dont give up.

夢(mèng)想不是無(wú)法實(shí)現的; 只要你遵循你的目標而不放棄。

And make a wish when youre at it; maybe that star will answer you.

當你看到星星的時(shí)候,你可以許個(gè)愿,星星也許會(huì )回答你。

Im out of here.

我不在那。

Wishing you a great day.

希望你們有美好的一天。
